Swift Rapids Generating Station is a three-unit hydroelectric station located on the Severn River, at Lock #43 situated 8 km downstream of Sparrow Lake, in Severn Falls. Construction on the site began in 1913 and the plant began producing electricity on November 10, 1917. The plant has an installed capacity of 8.1 MW.

The Swift generating station maximum and minimum water levels and flow are determined by the Trent Severn Waterway (TSW). The Swift generating station consists of a concrete powerhouse located north of the dam section and south of TSW Lock #43. The powerhouse contains three horizontal turbine generator sets, associated electrical components, a concrete head works and a concrete tail race section. The adjoining concrete dam and bypass sluices are owned by Trent Severn Waterway (Parks Canada).

The dam site consists of three interconnected sections. On the north side of the Severn River is the lock section, which contains the TSW navigational Lock #43, complete with the lock control tower and an equipment and storage facility. This section of the dam site is owned and operated by Parks Canada. The centre section of the dam site contains the intake section and the generating station along with the auxiliary equipment required for its’ operation. This section of the dam site is owned and operated by Orillia Power Generation Corporation. The southern section is the dam and spillway section, which is owned and operated by Parks Canada. The deck of the dam and spillway section is used as a roadway to provide access to the generating station and lock sections of the dam.

Swift is connected to the Hydro One circuit 92M4-2 and 98M6-2 circuit via Orillia Power 2M4-L and 2M6-L lines.

This hydroelectric generating station generates approximately 43,800 MWh of renewable energy per year.
