Commercial Operation on January 29, 2011

Raleigh Wind Energy Centre is a 78 MW wind farm being developed by Raleigh Wind Power Partnership (Invenergy) on 9,300 acres of private lands in the former townships of Raleigh and Tilbury East in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

The project will comprise a total of 52 GE wind turbine generators. Each turbine has a rated capacity of 1,500 kilowatts.

The electricity will be transferred via an underground and aerial collection system at 34.5 kilovolts (kV) to the substation. A 34.5/230kV substation will be built to step-up the generation to 230 kV for connection to the Hydro One owned C23Z or C24Z circuit to feed into the Ontario electricity market administered by the independent Electricity System Operator.

When completed, it is estimated this wind farm will generate over 200,000 megawatt-hours of renewable energy per year.
